Facial Oil

My first post will be dedicated to the purchase I made during my recent trip to Geneva, a city where I previously lived for 2 years. I want to say (and I do believe many will support me in my view) that Geneva offers a very limited choice to the buyers of beauty product. However, I was still able to find some goodies which became my favourites and which I will continue to use.

One of these products is Bio-Beauté by Nuxe facial oil. Although Nuxe cosmetics can be bought in many countries, its Bio-Beauté line is sold exclusively in France, Switzerland and Finland. It appeared on the shelves around two years ago and currently includes various ecologically certified products. I am not necessarily a big fan of everything green, but I was tempted by the amazingly sweet fragrance which Bio-Beauté line has. Among different products within this line I fell prey to the facial oil. I bought it then and since I have run out of it by now, I decided to buy another bottle also during my recent trip to the "smallest capital of the world". Now I will explain why I am so keen towards facial oils and why I like this one so much.

I am too young to use anti-age skincare. Therefore, my main priority is moisturizing. Although I use my cream twice a day, sometimes my skin needs more support. I am not afraid to use oil-based skincare as long as it is not artificially produced mineral oil. It is a popular misperception that oil blocks skin pores and leads to breakouts. In fact, many labels now include cleansing ranges containing oil because such products are milder to skin and help to cleanse it without irritating and over-drying. I am also not scared by the shine which my skin gets after using oil-based products. Moreover, I consider this shine a sign of my skin being healthy and I strongly dislike unnaturally matt skin hiding under a thick layer of powder. Therefore, already long time ago, I decided to supplement my beauty routine with some good quality facial oil.

In my search for facial oil, I was often distracted by the awful smell of so many of them. I suppose a bad smell is a consequence of natural components but I am not accepting this as an excuse. That's why when I smelled Bio-Beauté facial oil for the first time, I knew this is the one. It smells very nutty but also has fresh fruity notes to it. Every single application turns into a magical ritual which excellently improves my mood and helps to relax at the end of a long day. Isn't it an important part of each skincare routine?

As far as composition of the product goes, it has sunflower oil, sesame oil and olive oil in it, as well as cherry and prune extracts. After reading it, my first thought was that it must be easy to make something like this in the kitchen just mixing together some cooking oils. But I do not think that would work. At least I would not be able to get such an amazing smell.

I put this oil on my face, neck and décolleté area. I apply it usually in the evening, but often also in the morning under my make-up, when my skin looks especially dull/dry. The application is very easy- thanks to the pipette which is part of the bottle's design, (I like using this pipette because it makes me feel like a chemist in her lab doing something extremely important:). First time I bought this product two years ago, I used it mostly in the winter. Therefore, I decided not to open it now and save it until colder days. But then I changed my mind because also during the summer my skin suffers from the sun impact and, therefore, needs some extra hydration.

The effect of the oil is highly moisturising. My skin looks plumper in the morning. It glows and has this nice finish about it. I look like I take a good care of my skin and this is what I try to achieve with my skincare routine. Of course I will be able to judge about the long-term impact of this oil only after several years, but I am sure it contributes well towards the preparation of my skin for  changes which come with the age. In any event, although I would classify my skin as rather problematic, the use of oil hasn't increased the number of breakouts which I occasionally have.

Now my eyes are on the body oil from the same line. It smells amazing as well, and I am keen to try it. If you have a chance, I would also recommend buying some of the other Bio-Beauté products - they all smell so yummy and can really brighten up any skincare regime.

Do you use facial oils? Or are you a strict supporter of the "oil free" stuff?
